ASHLEY WU PHOTOGRAPHY

About Me
Ashley Wu is a student at the University of California, San Diego, and is very passionate about photography. She has entered many creative competitions since a young age and has won two local San Francisco art awards; Ashley is the Top 10 Winner of Sing Tao Daily Drawing Competition in 2013 and First Place Winner of Sing Tao Daily Drawing Competition in 2015.
Ashley specializes in digital photography, mainly portraiture of dramatic lighting to capture imperfection and analog warmth. She hopscotches from maximalism to minimalism, displaying the busyness in our everyday lives; capturing the times that are so hectic that just a second off, the image portrayed will be different. Every theme of every project is intensely curated, as each photo is a piece of dialogue. Ashley pushes her narratives in order to juxtapose serenity and disruption.
Ashley is a second-generation immigrant and speaks proficient Mandarin. She started art as a way to show appreciation towards her mother, and it spiraled into an aspiration that Ashley wants to go forward in. She has experience completing commissions in both digital art and photography, and you can see them on her Instagram and tags.
Ashley is currently pursuing photography and graphic design, and is majoring in media practices at UCSD right now.
